Welcome to my website! My name is Lisanne de Blok and I am an Assistant Professor at the Utrecht University School of Governance. I am currently also the Managing Director of Research & Communication of the Netherlands Institute of Governance (NIG). Previously, I worked as a Post Doctoral researcher at the Political Science & Public Administration department at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where I was also the coordinator of the VU Interdisciplinary centre for European Studies. In January 2020 I received my PhD in political science from the University of Amsterdam. I was a visiting scholar at the Quality of Government Institute in Gothenburg, at the University of Oslo and at Bocconi University, Milan.
My research focuses on the policy-feedback link between policy performance and political support in multilevel governance systems (see projects for more information). My research interests include democratic legitimacy, welfare state performance, risk and democratic values as well as quantitative methodology. I also enjoy teaching, with a particular interest in research-oriented subjects. Moreover, I actively contribute to the public debate through (invited) guest talks, writing news paper articles and blogs, as well as public reports. In addition, I am a proud member of the Women Also Know Stuff Executive Committee, an international organisation invested in the promotion of the expertise of women in political science.
